what was traded on the silk road?
some things traded on the silk road is gold, silver, jade, glass, and games. After they were done trading, some things people would return with is silk, of course, herbs, tea, and ceramics. seems like a pretty good deal to me. traders traveled along parts of the silk road as early as 800 b.c. that's really early!! if ONE road has been going for this long then it must be extremely important. which i why one day I'll be going. :)

What is the silk road like in China?
The silk road is about 4,000 miles long. its routes pass all the way through Asia! that's like, really long. so, over years, people made a bunch of Buddhists temples, shrines, and sculptures that were built along the road. I don't know about you, but walking down a road full of sculptures would be really cool! The silk road is a road that many traders walk down every single day! The traffic of course, is busy. So if you plan on walking down the silk road you better travel early!
how did it get its name?
Ancient Chinese used lengths of silk-like money. During the Han Dynasty, soldiers on the frontier were paid with silk. I'd rather NOT get paid with silk. The empire even sent gifts of silk to nomad tribes to buy their loyalty. the silk road got its name from all that silk. no offense to the Chinese silk road or anything, but that's a LOT of silk. i wonder why silk was so important to them.
how does the silk road benefit china?
The silk road benefits China in many ways. it helps people make a living by selling goods from China. It also helps traders get things they need with trading. I'm not very good with the whole trading thing, in mean, did china trade with Europe? or did china trade with other Chinese people? who knows?? well, the answer is...ALL OF THE ABOVE!! the silk road was a trading route for anybody to walk on and trade with. I think I'll go there one day.
what is the silk road?
The silk road is a long road for people who want to trade things. A ton of towns and trading centers have been built along this huge road. A lot of people use camels to carry all of the things they are wanting to sell. Camels are gross, but if that's what they need to get down the silk road, I'd say its worth it. The silk road spreads from china all the way across Asia, so I'm pretty sure it would be worth having to deal with a camel. The silk road is also one of the oldest and most historically important trade routes.
